American company to make light industry equipment in Belarus

The American company Gerber Technology will manufacture equipment for light industry in Belarus, Mr Vladimir Gressky, head of Gerber Technology Belarus, told BelTA. The executive was taking part in the Bellegmash expo in Minsk.

The enterprise will make cloth-spreading tables, cloth-spreading machines, and round bale movers. “Negotiations are in progress with American producers for the sake of getting the license to make cloth-cutting complexes, namely low-profile cloth-cutting complexes with the fabric height of up to 2.5cm,” said Vladimir Gressky.

The new enterprise is supposed to be opened this year. Gerber Technology equipment was only sold in Belarus earlier, with maintenance service provided. “We will need at least 1,000m2 to house the manufacturing facility. Negotiations are underway. The enterprise may be located in Minsk or Smolevichi,” said the head of Gerber Technology Belarus. The company’s plans to set up the enterprise in Belarus testify to the interest to promote business ties with the republic and to the favorable business terms offered to foreign investors.

According to Vladimir Gressky, as much as $2-2.5 million worth of Gerber Technology equipment is sold in Belarus every year. The company caters to 64 Belarusian companies, including virtually all the large enterprises.
